From what I've heard, it's difficult. I can't even imagine one playing on Steam. There was a project, but that was for the old WON Half-life versions.

I can point you to another First Person Shooter though, http://www.3dgamers.com/games/wolfensteinet/ (100% FREE). Engine-wise it's very similiar to the Quake III/ Return to Castle Wolfenstein one. It's stand alone. It works. It's a free beer.

UPDATE! : I think you can run steam and half-life natively on linux: http://www.computergames.ro/download...load/did-1596/
that's a link for Steam for Linux.

Hi, I'm a Newbie too, but I have installed and am using Limewire. I don't know if I'll be able to help but I'll try, what's your problem?

So I guess you've installed it OK. If you've got that far then the rest is straightforward. It should find your 'net connection on it's own (mine did). You can choose the directories to stores the downloaded files in and the ones to share with everyone else (make sure you only specify directories which you want others to access). This is under Tools-Options. Then do a Search for what you want to download, Queen, Dolly Parton (if that's your thing...:-). When you've found what you're looking for click Dowmload. The Library tab will display everything you're sharing and what you've downloaded.

It will depend on what shell you're using but when you've downloaded the .bin file go into a terminal window (or run another session with CTRL-ALT-F2) and type .sh filename.bin (you amy have to be root to do this).

A .bin file is simply an executable (like .exe in Windows). Go into a terminal window (or use CTRL-ALT-F2 to start a new terminal and sign in) then type ./ Limewire.bin (if that's it's name).

Nope, it's a server. I guess steam hasn't release a real CLIENT though they call it that. Makes sense since a client for Linux is not even available throught their website. Wine is the only way : - /
