Game with good plotline?

I'm looking for a linux game with a good plotline, something that's fairly story based, so single player. Nice graphics might be good too, I tried Excalibur: Morgana's Revenge, but was disgusted at the cardboard-cutout people in the graphics, I just couldn't take it seriouslly.

i'm open to games with violence, but if you could let me know in your reccomendation what it has in terms of blood and gore, tha'd be great.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

What type of games are you into (RPG, RTS, Action/Adventure etc..)

Do you want Free speech, Free beer or payed for.

Anyway I'm a big strategy fan and at the moment I'm mostly playing Warzone 2100 The plot line is good if slightly generic for a post apocalyptic RTS. Graphics are slightly dated but it is free (as in speech) but reasonable well done.

Wesnoth also good TBS with some story lines being good and others being dull - also has lots of community story lines and again free (as in speech) so I'd try these out but like I said Im a huge statergy fan.

Sorry, but I don't think there exists such a game for Linux. However, if we're talking about any game that can be played on Linux, then you have to install scummvm and maybe dosbox too.

For scummvm you can try really any of the games, many have good plots. My personal favorite is Full Throttle ... now this game is not free, you would have to buy it (if you can find it) ...

http://www.scummvm.org/compatibility/

So most of the lucasarts ones are good plot-wise, so are a few of the Revolution Software ones (Broken Sword), and other various ones, the ones I've played and are good:
Legend of Kyrandia *, I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream, Flight of the Amazon Queen, Broken Sword 1 (the better one), Gobliiins (not much of a plot, but well made), Sam & Max (you must play it), Full Throttle (must play), and others.

If you can't play them well in scummvm for some reason, I've found some games to play better on dosbox.

Oh, and you can use the Exult engine to play the Ultima 7 that doesn't really work well on dosbox:

Also note that many of the games are abandonware ... not exactly legal ... but at your discretion ...

Flight of the Amazon Queen, Broken Sword 1 (the better one)
Broken Sword 2 doesn't have a bad plotline, but you will finish it in an afternoon.
Broken Sword 1, great plotline, interesting and with nice graphics.
Flight of the Amazon Queen, cool, the plot is good.
I've also tried other in SCUMMV, but these stick out.

You can also try DOS games. The Lost Files of Sherlock Holmes 1 is interesting and challenging. Monkey Island is also funny and interesting.

From all I mentioned, The Lost Files of Sherlock Holmes have the worst graphics. But worst doesn't mean insupportable, it has nice graphics.

In the way of plotline driven games, I rather enjoy these few, may not be what your looking for, but what the heck

http://gwos.org/doku.php/games:alphabetical:a:adonthell

http://gwos.org/doku.php/games:alpha...schalon_book_i - Commercial game but felt was worth the money to buy.

http://gwos.org/doku.php/games:alpha...d_gold_edition - Excellent game, Diablo IIish in game play, and I believe you can pick it up at tuxgames on nominal sale as its also Commercial in nature.

http://gwos.org/doku.php/games:alphabetical:b:wesnoth - Excellent Free game, the campaigns I felt very easy to get into.
