game server questions (ut2004)

Hi all,

I have a server sitting around that I would like to use for a ut2004 game server (LAN only), and would like to know how many clients it could handle.

Here are the specs
OS: Slackware 9.1 (currently none but soon to be)
Proc: 4 200MHz PPros
RAM: 512MB PC133
NICs: 2 10/100 campaq nics
HDD: 5 4.8GB SCSI drives in a RAID 5 array

Thank You

-Joey

I dunno the answer, but a good way to find out is just to try it. I'd be intrested in knowing if it works. I doubt it will.

If you go to the website of the game you are interested in hosting, LAN only, it will give what the server minimum requirements should be. For a Quad PPro, I am not sure that it will handle UT2K4. The game machine requirements are quite high, so I would assume that the server would be close to those requirements.

Sorry for the bad news.

There website told me nothing, just what it takes to play the game.

Your situation is pretty unusual actually. I doubt that you will be able to get a good answer as I doubt that there are many people that have tried to run UT2004 server on a similar machine. My suggestion is still that if you have the game, try the server out and find out.
