funny game sounds

hi im having a bit of weird problem, when i play some games i.e. doom3, and UT 2004 the sound 'crackles' and 'jumps' its kind of consistent as well, like every 3 seconds or something, however the sound works fine on the desktop and games like Q3 and Wolfenstien, when i used fedora the sound worked fine in those games, has anyone got any ideas at all, would be much appreciated. thanks.
p.s. im using the pre-relase of yoper (2.2 i think) i think its the best o/s ive ever used.

Are you using KDE??
If so turn off the sound system in the control panel and see if that remedies it.
Arts (KDE's sound server) has a nasty habit of getting in the way.
