Fruit/Spike chess engines

Can anyone help me configure these to work with xboard? All I'm getting now is broken pipe errors- Thanks -just learning so specifics help alot!

if you are running the VERY OLD and unsupported fedora 6 then NO.
kernal 2.6.20-1 2948.fc6 LC2210D
some googling
is that the "Spike 1.2 Turin (Linux)" last updated on "11.03.2007"
last modified on " 01 Aug 2007 "

This is an ubuntu 8.04 lts. Spike works fine in both machines but I can't get fruit to do anything.???
