Frame Rate LImiter

I am having problems with my grahic card inlinux, it may seem crazy but it is running too fast, causing it to overheat and freeze for small amounts of time. The only way I can fix this is by having a framerate limiter, does anyone know of whether there is a a way to limit the frame rate in openGL or not.

Thanks

If its overheating, why not just shell out for a new heatsink and fan.

AFAIK, there isnt really anyway of doing what your asking unless you play something like quake 3, in which case you could add com_maxfps 30 or similar at console, maybe turn off some of the eye candy as well (FSAA, Aniso, Bump Mapping, etc).

I think its also possible in UT to lower fps and kill some of the gfx eye candy.

Cheaper in the long run to get a new HS tho. Zalman silent and an 80mm fan will usually suffice.

If you are seeing these problems only in linux, I highly recomend you stop using this card. You could end up permently damaging it, you're motherboard, or you could create a fire, or somthing. Really, check you have the correct drivers, use the card for desktop use, and possibly glxgears, then tell us what happens.
