force small, or resizing a window?

this one may not be game specific, but Ill ask it here anyways.

I'm trying to run asteroids3D in linux, and with my crappy screen, I can only get a max of 800x600 in linux, anyways the inital window opens significantly larger than 800x600, and I cant even grab the corners to resize it (because they are all off the screen). Because I set the fluxbox toolbar thing so that its always on top, I can use that to switch to another virtual workspace to kill it.

I was wondering if theres any way to force it to open smaller or make it smaller after I open it. (without me having access to its corners)

the only solution I'v found so far is to make a larger virtual desk top, but I hate schrolling around just to see all of mozilla, so thats out of the question for long term usage.

I'm not on flux right now, but can't you hold "control" key and with pressing and holding the mouse left or right key and moving it around won't it resize or move respectively the window regardless if you press the mouse key at the corners or not?... Sorry if it sounds confusing, but hey, that's me :)
