Seeing as how I have an XP partition that I made specifically to run this, I was curious as to whether it's actually possible to run it regardless of the amount of config and tweaking necessary.

Since I'm pretty much Linux-retarded due to having used it for a month tops and with no real experience in messing with anything WINE-related, I have no clue what the entry below means beyond "It's an error that involves Direct3D and some other items". It's what it outputs whenever I actually get to the part where I'm supposed to be gallivanting around naked with an elven rogue due to failing a Wisdom check when getting out of the bathtub(In other words: whenever the program should be running. I just have a penchant for things like that in-character.)

If it doesn't require 3d graphics you can run it on a virtual machine. If you have a win install cd you can install windows in Virtualbox, and run it on top of linux.
