Even more fun for Linux Gamers

Hello Linux gamers,

I know this is shameless self-promotion - but if you don’t know you will never find it. There for here this is my attempt to make it public what I believe is a great cause.
At gcclinux.com we have a nice concentration of Linux games, competitions and support (well we’ll all try to help one another). But best part of it all is that at gcclinux.com has a new page called “JDS entertainment Games” that has a nice collection games all packed for the Sun Java Desktop System. I am currently only packing games in rpm format for JDS but once I’ve finished my next little project I may start to packing games for other Linux Distros.
My current project will be a fantastic step towards making the games installation on Linux quick and painless.
As soon as I am close to finishing it I will disclose details of how it works and how it is going to make life even more fun for Linux gamers.
But for now let’s just say it’s worth keeping an eye at http://www.gcclinux.com and check out the games we have or we are linked too.

Kind Regards,

Ricardo W. (Trying to help the community)

Thumbs up

Right just as I promised the first pre-beta release of GccInstaller has been released, I have posted some screenshots of what to expect at this moment in time and I know there is still lots of things that I have to do to improve it.
The GccInstaller is available for download at the “Gamers Community” on my website and I think you can actually download it and install it on any Linux distro that runs rpm (no guaranty) and also all the games available (not many at this time) have been compiled and packed on JDS Linux R2, so I can’t say if it will work on other Linux distros either.

BUT bellow the screen shots and the download link I did state that if there is enough interest in the application and the facility to automatically install games on other distros I will be happy to start supporting the most popular distros, but for now I have to finish improving and removing some issues that I have already found on the JDS-R2 version, and there will also be a Java version of the installed coming out at some point in the near future.

Conclusion:

* GccInstaller 0.0.2 pre-demo is available for download but is only suppose to work on JDS-R2.
* GccInstaller 0.0.3 should be out in the next couple of day with some fixes
* GccInstaller-java is currently being developed.
* The list of games is currently limited to 10 games only, but there will be many more games once the GccInstaller is working the way I want.
* If there is a big request to port this and start supporting other Linux distros, I could say that the most requested distro would be the first one that I will concentrate on once GccInstaller is at a reasonable polish state.

I do hope to motivate and increase the number of Linux gamers with my project.

Kind regards,

Ricardo W. (Just trying to help the Linux Community)
