CCP just gave us gamers one less reason to have a dual-boot box; yesterday they released a linux and a mac client of their space-based 'sandbox' game EVE-Online. As far as I know, they are the first commercial MMO company to release a mac and linux client alongside their windows client.
EVE-Online is available for download for Fedora, Mandriva, OpenSuse, Ubuntu, Linspire, Debian, Gentoo, Slackware and other distro's using either RPM, DEB or 'source' packages.
EVE can be downloaded
here.
It's system requirements are
here.
Installation instructions are
here.
And in case you've never played EVE and want to give it a try for 14 days without charge, get a trial key
here.
And in case you're still not convinced, take a peek at the
video's (EVE NEVER FADES is a definate must-see).
Now all we need is for the linux community to start making linux-based tools for EVE so we don't have to run great tools such as
EVEmon,
EFT and
EVE MEEP through Wine.
