I just installed Doom3 Demo on Fedora 3 Core Linux on AMD Athlon 64 based system, with an ATI Radeon 9600 graphics card and ATI drivers. I received the following output/errors:

I see where it's shutting down, but why? What can anyone recommend? What's ultimately making it shut down? Is it one thing or multiple things?
I don't know about the sound system errors but you should try typing glxinfo in the console and see if it says "Direct rendering: Yes". If it says no, then OpenGL isn't working. I got the same kind of OpenGL errors when it said no direct rendering.
follow the links. The demo is free. You have to pay for the full version. I think it's a modification of the Windows version (I think you have to have the Windows discs), but I haven't gotten that far.
I went back and re-installed ATI drivers, and error messages came up that certain files were not installed in kernel directories. This may be the problem. It listed an old Kernel, so the ATI drivers must not be up to date. Is there a new set of drivers someone would recommend for an ATI Radeon 9600 256 card?
i have the windows disks, all u have to do is get the 7.6 mb installer, install it, copy the packages form the diasc into the directory of insatllation and it works fine.... i had problems with sound that im still trying to figure out, bu otherwise its the full game...
it looks like it's your soundcard--notice it segfaults after failing to match the sound up.
try using alsa as your driver...go into your home dir and opent the folder /.doom3 and edit DoomConfig.cfg so that
seta s_driver "best"
says
seta s_driver "oss"
and set your sound system to oss if that still fails. it's worth a shot and it got it working for me.
