(Not-so) Short background:
I have a 3-CD set of Toddler games from Disney Interactive that my almost-3-year-old daughter absolutely adores. She playes them with her grandpa on his WindowsXP computer.
Yesterday she asked him to play but he was "busy." I grabbed the CDs and tried to get them to work on my slackbox (10.2, kept up-to-date) with wine 0.9.20. I tried for almost an hour to get any of them working. At the end of it all, I had to try to explain to a sad little girl that they didn't work on my computer. She had watched them install successfully, so she thought I was lying to her. She didn't understand they don't start properly. Her crying was a bit more than I was ready to bear at that moment (being already frustrated because they wouldn't start)
. Please help...
The Error Message:
When I try to start the program (whether from the start menu, CL, or clicking on the icon in konq, and whether calling the command from my "C:" or the CD), a black screen comes up with an alert box telling me that my video driver is not allowing the program to automatically change the Display Settings to 16-bit color.
What I've done:
I've Googled, searched these forums, and written to Disney. That last one only because several of their titles (including those included in this "learning pack" when sold separately) claim Linux compatibility. Nothing yet. Perhaps I've missed something.
I appreciate any available help. Thanks in advance. (My little girl thanks you too.)
