difficulties running snes9x

hello. I only have mandrake 9.0 as far as mandrake goes. I can't find an rpm that has snes9x for 9.0
I am trying to run sness9x from a precompiled binary of version 1.18d.
I extracted all the files from s9x_linuxc5_118d_i386.tar.gz into it's own directory i made for it.
However, when i go to the directory and try to run it, i get the message:

[tuxdude@localhost tuxdude]$ cd Documents/snes9x
[tuxdude@localhost snes9x]$ dir
CHANGES megaman_x.sfc README.TXT snes9x
HARDWARE.TXT MegamanX.zip s9xserver ssnes9x
[tuxdude@localhost snes9x]$ snes9x
bash: /usr//bin/snes9x: No such file or directory
[tuxdude@localhost snes9x]$

i've tried everything i can think of. Can you help me? I appreciate anything you do for me.

dir? you're a DOS fan i take it?

in Linux (or any UNIX implementation) your current directory is not on your path variable. so to run a program in the current directory, preceed it with "./" so here "./snes9x"

Snes9x is used like this (I keep it in a media directory along with my games): /media/nintendo/snes9x /media/nintendo/SNES/breathoffire1.smc
The first part is where the executable (snes9x) is located & the second is where the game is located ( breath of fire 1). I place a script in my /home/bin directory so that I don't have to type everything in all the time. Hope this helps.

Thank you. I figured a few things out. However, it still wouldn't run when i typed in
/home/tuxdude/Documents/bin/snes9x/snes9x
or /home/tuxdude/Documents/bin/snes9x/snes9x /home/tuxdude/Documents/bin/snes9x/megaman_x.sfc

It did work when i tried different applications. However, i did find an rpm that i could install that worked.
I appreciate every bit of assistiance you have given me.

thank you.
