Diablo 2 Game Hosting Problem

Was wondering if anyone out there has been able to (successfully) host a D2 LAN game. When I try to make a game, the little red loading bar stops dead close to completion, hangs up, and then times out with "Failed to Join Game". I can already join other local games though.
Any ideas?

Thanks.

If you don't mind my hijack, how did you get D2 to run? What version of wine are you running? Was D2 installed on your windows drive, or did you install it into the wine fake drive?

I'm using transgaming's WineX. You can either pay the $5 per month for the rpm's or you can just download and build from their CVS for free without the support (you can still browse their forums and help areas though).

Good Luck, now is there anyone who can answer my question?

I have found many issues when trying to run Diablo 2 in RedHat 9. I am now successfully using D2+Expansion.

My setup is as follows:

HW

Athalon XP 2500+
256MB DDR 333FSB
40GB HDD
ATI Radeon 9200SE

SW

Slackware Linux 9.1 (http://www.slackware.com)
Dropline GNOME (http://www.dropline.net)
Wine-x 3.1 (http://www.transgaming.com)

Hope this helps or at least provides you with an alternative setup.

I finally got D2 to run in RH9, by installing D2 in Wine on the fake windows drive.

Has anyone gotten the direct 3d working? I know there is a registry entry to set which rendering engine you want. I don't know the value needed for direct3d. Does the direct3d work in wine if you set it correctly?
