cs 1.6 on steam works fine.....the first time i play

during the time i had suse 9.1 installed , i used cedega to install steam and play counterstrike (using NVIDIA geforce fx5200, latest drivers via Yast Online Update)

it worked....but when i tried to play cs at a later time, the game would start(i could see the cs splash screen) but then crashed to desktop...it continued to do so. i do not know what causes this, could anyone help it would be appreciated
p.s next time i install steam and cs it willl most likely be on slackware 10.0

It sounds like when you try to start it, it's trying to run it under wine and not winex/cedega. when you install Cedega it will have an executable somewhere in the install folder that you need to use instead of the basic wine thats installed with your system. To fix it you need to look in the folder that cedega was installed and find the executable then change the link you use to start CS to look something like this:

/opt/cedega/bin/wine /home/user/Valve/hl.exe

where

/opt/cedega/bin/wine = the path to the cedega executable

and

/home/user/Valve/hl.exe = the path to the came executable

Id reccomend trying the command out in a terminal to make sure it works before you change the command in your link.

you mean /usr/bin/cedega
you can have cedega and wine together, they'll just be different names. Unless its the CVS then I dont know. But you should go get P2P, if you bought cedega, it'll save you tons of headaches.
