Can't get on internet with vector linux

I cant get on the internet with vector linux. I got a speed stream modem with aliant high speed internet service. I put in my aliant cd and i see setup.exe but when i click on it it does nothing. should I download wine and see if it works?(I am on a Windows box now.)

never mind i am now downloading fedora core 4. a mod can close this now
