I cannot follow that howto, I'm too stupid and I don't have gentoo, so I obviously don't have the gentoo toolkit. Is there a way to do this in slackware?
yeah, I made a topic on that in the slackware forums and was pointed to that link. I got it working It hink, but I still get the same error when starting CoD
I don't know, I just installed wine. I dunno what you have to do to tell it what to use.
edit: Ok, well I copied over the sample config for wine, and I changed it to use alsa. I start cod, and it plays the video and then goes to the main menu, but the bar for kde and both for gnome are infront. I don't know how to take care of that. And then also, when I start a game, it freezes at the loading screen and dosn't do shit.

I've never gotten that fixed, myself, and I just play it in a window. I do know that it doesn't happen in WineX. To run it windowed, don't set "windowed" in the game; leave it fullscreened, and append this to your .wine/config file (changing "Desktop" size to how large the window should be):
Edit: This is for the "panels still on top" problem. I'm not sure about the loading issue; the progress bar never moves on mine, but it still loads. Did you wait for it?
I waited about a minuite or two, it does take a little bit in windows, but I'll try again. Maybe I'm just too impatient. I figured it had frozen because when I ctrl-alt-backspace nothing happen, and it usually will close x right away.
Yeah i went on to the website. got the widnows and the linux update pbweb.exe and pbweb.x86 files, updated them .... but no chance.
I heard that is because i am using linux so the server can't scan my directory .... cause the server is a windows one. i can play on linux based but not on windows based ... punkbuster sux.
