Unhappy BF1942 cedega?!?!

Hi all, I'm using my slackbox (slackware 9.1) and when I try to Run my already installed BF1942, it says the following:

>Non-Determinism is not meant to be reasonable. >
> -- M.J. 0'Donnell >
> >
>root@Slackware:~# cedega -use-pthreads no /root/TransGaming_Drive/ > >ProgramFiles/EAGAMES/Battlefield1942/BF1942.exe >
>Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0". >
>/usr/bin/cedega: line 321: 1838 Terminated $SHELL -c "$RUNWINE> >$WINVER -debugmsg $DEBUGMSG -use-dos-cwd $WORKDIR -- $COMMAND_LINE" >
>root@Slackware:~# >

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated as this is the only thing keeping me from de-Windows-a-tizing my comp!

I have been looking around and cant find drivers for that specific motherboard, you may have to go out and buy a new video card. even if they did have drivers i doubt they would be good enough. go out and buy some cheep nvidia card.

That's what I thought. My on-board sound doesn't work with Slackware either! That SUCKS! I can't have both a new soundcard and videocard, kuz my comp only has 2 pci's and I need 1 for my SMC WiFi! Darnit! If anything, I could just run it without sound, or find another distro that can work with my board's sound (and I have) and .tgz files. O.k., well another time then. L8r

Take it easy o0linuxkid0o!
You need these 2 things:
1. For sound just install Alsa and you are done! (search in internet for good installing and also here)
2. For your graphics card to enable 3d acceleration you need "DRI" ! I have an s3 prosavage ddr and you know that it is the worst graphics card in the world (which unfortunately ships with most of laptops) and afer building dri I get 50 fps on quake3! Astonishing ! that beats every Windows!
http://dri.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/moin.cgi/Building
Ask here if you had any difficulties...

Sry but it seems theres only basic 2d acceleration for your onboard graphics. Like others, just get your self a cheap GeForce 2 MX. GTS would be better. All in all dont get yourself a GeForce FX 5200 or 5500, its not worth it. For your sound, try getting your self a 2.6 kernel. 2.6.3 or better would be good.

RHLinuxGUY,
The o0linuxkid0o's graphics card is good! I even have played IGI2 under windows by it!!!!
And it is not needed for him to buy a geforce. Yeah, of course geforce will do better but SIS is a good card and enough for every gaming under linux....Becuas linux games are dependent only on OpenGL power and not anything else! (directx ...)
When I can play Enemy Territory by my savage easily, actually he can do it too!
Cheers,

I doubt the card would work at all, even if it had open source drivers. I remeber when i bought my 5900 xt and it only played battlefield ok in linux. After i returned it my 9800 is barly able to play the game at acceptable fps, and i get good ut2004 fps. o0linuxkid0o just go get some cheep geforce 4mx they are sold for around $50 or less.

Buying a Geforce 4 one is actually good..and the best idea. But friends think about this:
Untill when do we want to be a newbie? Untill when do we want to use "what is easier" and put away "what is harder" ? Hmmm?
If Microsoft Windows gives me my 3D acceleration then It must be enabled under linux too!
Why do we want to buy another thing just because it does not basically support linux? Let make it linux friendly ourselves!
I am not perventing you from buying a geforce 4 but it is not a good idea that you want to buy another just because nothing as binary is made for your graphics card....
Cheers,

Exclamation

(1) I HAVE ALSA ALREADY! DUH, it comes withy slackware and it installed fine! (2) The chip-set has 3d support! (3) I play bf1942 in windoze 24/7! (4) It works FINE IN LINUX, it just doesn't have the one extension. and (5) It only has two pci slots and one is taken by my wifi (which i need desperately for internet!)

Also, I want to know how to give all users an automatic cd mount!

Sorry for the late post!

P.S. I HAVE NO YEARNING TO GET A NEW CARD ANY TIME SOON! I have only $50 bucks (I'm only 13!) and I'm saving for a gewd laptop to buy!

Sorry if i sound erm... post, angry now, I thank you all for the help.
