Best free games for Linux?

What are some of the best free games for Linux? (And that are not online multiplayer or expansion packs, so that rules out Enemy Territory.)

I recommend Scorched3d. It's great. As is Neverball.

Thanks for the suggestions both of you, I'm downloading them now. NetHack looks really interesting. Looks like old-school RPG style, kind of like Exile III: Ruined World (great game, only one in the trilogy made for Linux).

I posted these in a different thread on the same subject, but these are so good I'll post them again:

VegaStrike: a free (as in GPL), OpenGL starship trading/combat game, similar to Elite and Privateer, with a scripting engine for missions. It's also moddable, and the mods include Star Trek (you have to see the screenshots to believe; the mod authors have Galaxy, Intrepid, Akira, Defiant, Bird of Prey and Vor'cha models) and Babylon 5 (still in development).

Flight Gear: open source flight simulator.

Racer: free (as in lunch but not source) racing car simulator. The source is open, but restricted to non-commercial use.

Frozen Bubble: like crack cocaine for my wife

TuxRacer: a downhill slalom game with our favourite penguin; my kid really likes this.

GL-117: a GPL'd combat flight simulator, like Falcon 3.0.

LGeneral: a Panzer General clone for Linux.

Xconq: a military strategy game like Empire.

Nethack is awesome; I wasted many days back in the '80s playing that. Google for Falcon's Eye (a graphic tileset for it), or Slash'Em (a multiplayer version).

One free game that I most like in Linux is the BzFlag. It is a multiplayer gaming software which can be both run in LINUX, Micro$oft and MacOS. Really great because you can even play over internet or Locally. Try this and download it from http:///www.bzflag.sourceforge.net

Believe in Tux and the power it will change the IT...!
