best _native_ linux game ?

although I'm not a big gamer....*g* I sometimes need some "interactive entertaintment" ^^
My favourite is gl-117 (http://home.t-online.de/home/Primeti...17/gl-117.html), the most fun and stunning flight simulation I ever have come accross =D
I just wondered which _native_ (I refuse to run _any_ software from winblow$) linux games you play, and which you like most...

regards ^^

My favourit native games are Return to castle wolfenstien and UT2003. Check out www.happypenguin.org for the biggest best list of linux games. Oh yeah Enemy territory and Americas Army are both linux native (and free!)

With wine you can play almost any games. With some limitations sometimes.

They both are not native to Linux, they run on wine, (Only CS I think... battlefied I think runs only on winex). Native means it's been compiled straight on Linux.

Umm.. freeciv

UT,UT2003, quake3 are all good.

But Wolf:ET beats them all, not only because of gameplay but because it's free

Linux+et = free gaming bliss!

It's got to be Head Over Heels, the remake of the classic ZX Spectrum game. The graphics are fantastic, as are the sound and gameplay. I found the link on http://www.happypenguin.org and I seriously recommend you play it. It was ported from Windows and although it isn't open source, the binaries worked fine for me, and it is freeware.

UT2003 for Linux? I didn't know this. This means I'm going to have to badger my friend to lend it to me so I can try it out. I assume UT2004 will be ported aswell?

yes, in fact, ut2004 will have linux mentioned on the box! meanwhile, while were losing sleep over dwelling over ut2004's release date, you can find the linux installer/binaries on disk 3 of ut2003.
