Anyone installed Tactical Ops or UT99 on 64bit Linux ?

I downloaded the installers, but I am getting MD5 sum check errors =\

I'm using Slamd64.

None of them seem to work, should I try installing UT GOTY ? Then copying the TO files across ?

Cheers,
Karl.

Hmm, do you have the retail version of TO? I thought that the installers were for that, might be worth a shot trying the GOTY edition and trying to copy over the mod files, been a while since I played it on windows, was pretty fun, I could never find anything but windows installers for TO, I'll have to take another look.

Yes I have the retail version. I used the same installers for my 32bit Slackware when I had it.

Thing is though, I do sh ./<filename> and it starts verifying and then it throws up the error before it even launches the installer.

I'm assuming it doesn't like the 64bit components that run the GUI.

I'll try UT tonight.

Just to say;

I emailed the guy who made the installers and he has pointed me to some answers in his FAQ.

Hopefully one of those will sort it, will post which one

Cheers.

Solved !

I have it all installed.

The guy who made the installers, directed me to his FAQ;
http://icculus.org/lgfaq/#chasingmyowntail

I the went into the Terminal to the location when I had downloaded the files and used his

export _POSIX2_VERSION=199209

I could then run the script with the --keep switch to extract the files.

From there I copied over a wine installation I had done to a more logical folder (/home/karl/Games/TacticalOps.

From the extracted setup file, I copied the .so files required into the above directors.

I then used the export TO_DATA_PATH=<to install system folder>

I then ran the script in the extracted file and TO loaded up OK.

---

The proceedure for the patches is slightly different, Once again I had to use;export _POSIX2_VERSION=199209 followed by the --keep switch.

I then I had copy the loki_patch from bin/linux/x86 into the root of the extracted files, I could then run the update.sh file and update.

I have yet to fully test the game, I as done all this from work via VNC. But it will loading up 3.5.0 full screen.

Woo !
