There is something wrong with my config I think, it is impossible to access the ingame console in quake3.
I use my old config which I used to run under windows, and it worked fine there, is there a secret to it in linux?
bind i "toggleconsole"
- Where did you save your q3config?
You should save it in the quake3 folder in your home directory, not in the directory where
you installed the game (ex. /usr/local/games/quake3)
- Can you pull down the console with the tab key? If you can it would mean that your bindings don't work, mysteriously some of mine don't work anymore while others do
- If you copied the q3config from a Windows partition, check on the permissions, to be sure you're not locked out because your q3config.cfg appears not to be writeable or something like that.
Hadn't thought of that there was a .q3a folder in my home-dir.
That solved allot, but I still have som binding trouble, toggleconsole for example, could it be that it is different ascii-codes for the keys or something? I doubt it, but maybe
Maybe I can put the keycodes in the config? From running xev. It should be running the directives from .Xmodmap.
Anyone else had trouble with keybindings in q3 in linux?
Now it was some time ago, but Yes, I had exactly same problem!
I found toggle console under another key... tryed to switch it to another key with no success... now I have got used to the new key...
Dont know if its the same key for you (I have a Swedish kbd mapping), but its under the key: `
If you solve the problem more than that, please let me know :=)
On swedish keyboards you normally press the § key (top left corner under the escape key)
Now I have systematicly tried all keys, and none has worked, I've changed the config to different buttons that i now shuold work.
