what distro does AA run best in... i tried suse.... but suse has really bad nvidia support.... and could not get 3d

right now i have FC2 and i cant get the stupid .bin to run....

It should work fine with pretty much any modern distro. You'll have to give us some more info as to what the problem is.

About all I can offer based on your post is after you downloaded the file, did you make it executable by doing:

chmod +x americasarmy.bin

(substitue americasarmy.bin with the actual filename)

Using the nvidia installer from www.nvidia.com should be pretty straightforward on any distro, just make sure you have your kernel sources in /usr/src as it needs them to build the nvidia module. It's all in the nvidia documentation.

I run it on Slackware 10 and have no issues.

To install it:
sh armyops210-lnx.bin

And yes you should have the Kernel Source installed to install the Nvidia drivers, then edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf or XF86Config per the instructions in the README file.

Now you might be the right person to advice me how to
install the kernel sources in Slackware.

I know how to in Mandrake etc, but as i just installed Slackware 10 i´m not that familiar with the procedure.

I´m pleased if i can have an answer to this.

Download the kernel source .tgz
kernel-source-2.4.26-noarch-4.tgz

I have stuck with the 2.4.* series of kernel just out of personal pref.

Open a terminal as root and install the package:
installpkg kernel-source-2.4.26-noarch-4.tgz

If you installed the 2.6 kernel that comes with slackware 10 as an optional kernel then you'll need to install the source for that kernel. And the other packages that are needed by that kernel.

Or you can pop in the second cd of Slack 10, and do a
installpkg kernel-source-2.6.7- *tab*
You'll get better performance, I gaurentee it. 2.4 is for the older computers. (1000 gigaherts and lower.)
