Which distribution to use for a Linux 7.1 host system?

I want to give LFS (7.1) another go, but after doing some reading on the website it appears that the LFS Live CD will not work for a LFS 7.1 system. Does anyone have a recommendation for host system to use to build a LFS (7.1) system?

I am using Mac OS X as my primary OS, but I have Oracle Virtual Box installed so I figure I could install a distribution of Linux that way to get my LFS system built. Any help would be appreciated.

Any distribution that satisfies these requirements Which is to say, just about any reasonably up to date distribution. Personally, I use Slackware, Gentoo, or my existing CLFS system.

You can also use the LFS Live CD which also contains all the requirements that LFS needs.

You can't use the Live-CD for LFS 7 versions.

That's news to me, I guess it's time to rebuild the images then. Good to know. :)

Hi,

Using Debian or Slackware as host are good choices.

I would advise against using Ubuntu (and Ubuntu based distro's).

Hope this helps.
