Unable to print to HP Deskjet 5740 with CUPS

Hello,

I recently setup CUPS so I could print to my HP Deskjet 5740. I set it up through the web interface. When I try to print a test page I get this error on the printer's status page:

"Printer not connected; will retry in 30 seconds..."

Also I notice that upon system startup when the lp module is loaded I get this error:

The printer is connected through USB and I can see it's entry in /proc/bus/usb/devices:

HP is a brand that generally works very well with linux. do you have the hpijs drivers installed on your system? if not, follow this link, and that should help:
