Thinking about doing this

Alright I am thinking about trying LFS. I've had a good year experience of Linux including installing Gentoo twice (2nd time, nearly installed it from memory and not using install guide) and slackware twice as well as Debian 4 times.

Few questions tho:

1. On a 1-10 scale, 10 being hardest what would you rate the difficulty of LFS?
2. Can I use a package manager like apt-get?
3. How long does the install take?
4. Do linux apps work fine after the install?

Thanx!

1. how can you rate it with nothing else in the scale?? well it's a 10 in terms of linux installations, but about a 1 if you factor in the hardness of performing embryonic cloning or bulding a martian rover...

2. you can install anything. you can theoretically build an EXACT clone of debian or whatever if you really felt like it. that's the point of it really.

3. yonks.

4. you'd accept it if it wasn't the case??? if you do it right, of course anything will run just fine.
