I'm a Newbie For LFS and Tried to install the LFS Live CD on Oracl VirtualBox But Sadly It Doesn't work just gives me a black Screen and Just Writes

Loading Linux Kernel




Linux Kernel is alive



What's the Problem here

Which LFS version are you planning to build?

I'm asking because the liveCD cannot be used to build LFS version 7.0 or higher.

If you do want to build LFS 7, what I recommend, install another linux distro first (Debian would be a good choice) and work from there. Do remember to make the chosen distro compliant. Not doing so will result in a failed LFS build.

About your liveCD problem: The last time the liveCD was updated is over 4 years ago. Maybe it doesn't support the modern (virtual)hardware.

I built LFS 7.0 on top of Slackware 13.37 (32 bit) inside VirtualBox without any problems:
1. Download the Slackware 13.37 Install DVD.
2. Install Slackware 13.37 (32-bit) (skip X and KDE).
3. Make a new (virtual) harddisk.
4. Follow the LFS book (7.0 works fine, I suspect 7.1 will too) to install it on the second harddisk.
5. If you want to stop, suspend the virtual machine...
6. ...

What happened to it and yea it's out of date but still "installable"

yea 7.0 but my problem the base system without any Configurations The Thing is it doesn't want to install

So I didn't do anything with it just installed it I didn't even read the book So What's Wrong

and Why it's out of Date and Where to get Debian Their Site is so confusing for me So Please Give a direct Link and Where to get the tools Needed in the Book (If I wanted them Separately)

Did the cd not boot at all you should boot from the cd (run as a live cd),
Before you start I would read the book at least the 1st few chapters

DO read upto chapter 5 before you start, What OS do you have installed on your machine at the moment?

It Doesn't Give Me a live CD or Any Thing Just in Normal Exploration Mode (like I opened any Folder)

I can only vouch for using Ubuntu and a built LFS system, you can use most linux distros

Hi LFS-Hunter,

Slackware because it works fine as a Host for LFS (I have done that) and it is small and simple to use and to set up.
Skip X and KDE at the Slackware installation because you will not need them if you use Slackware as Host for LFS and installation takes time and diskspace.
Please ignore the sixth and seventh statement, they were a joke.

I don't want to sound discouraging but WHY do you want to install LFS? Have you ever used any other Linux distribution before?

I understood Some Parts of the LFS Required but the Guys Which they didn't say how to get them So How to get them?

and for the reason I want to make a Linux Distro is just the feeling of I've made this thing that people use you know :)

I've used ubuntu before but my Essential work on windows and I want to make a Custom-Made System that Does What I want and to be a General Purpose System that's it

and can you give me the Full set of new books (LFS , BLFS , CLFS ,ALFS , HLFS)

and just how far does each book can go
