The book is fcking annoying

Yes, the book is good and if you follow it - everything will be ok.
But just wondering how many people lost the goal of the book.
Advice to type every command manually is so nice. If you screw up somewhere in the chapter 6 - just spend few more days to retype it again and then maybe again. Anyway i dont care - i just create scripts for every paragraph. But what I personally dont like - this book will lose attraction during careful reading. Its boring. Just very-very boring. Is there no better way then readjust toolchain for 5 times and play with damn sed? Correct package list to be shorter?
Not Good, Not Attractive. No Fun at all. BORING.

...but, on the sunny side: it builds character. :)

I think that the LFS book should be more seen as a guide. Once you've gotten in line with the idea, the actual text is secondary.

Get to grips with the goal, and you'll only need the book as a reference...

Of course, if you need an intallation quickly...LFS may not be the best option...you will spend some time doing things, but you'll get into grips with the inner workings...

LFS isn't always for everyone, but it can be a great learning experience into Linux's deep inner workings and fundamentals. And yes... following books is good but not always the best option. Sometimes you just have to get your hands dirty and do things your own way.
