When you installed X11, did you go for the simplified /usr installation recommended by the book?

If you did everything, it should be working.

Okay, now question. In this chapter:

http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs.../x7driver.html

Did you follow any of the xorg.conf set up instructions for ATI, Nvidia, and Intel drivers, mainly the sections concerning Glamor acceleration? If you did, then that could be a problem.

Oh so that's the problem. I remember installing drivers, and glamor was meant for ATI I think. Now is there any way to remove it?.

Just go in and take out any files in the /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d directory and remove /etc/X11/xorg.conf.

Once you've done those, check the LFS forum here for a sticky post I have up about properly configuring Xorg, and all should be well.
