Smile Should I proceed further after creating symlink to GCC

I was stuck in chapter 6.7 in LFS book 7.7 where I have to install Linux API headers after executing command
Code:
 make mrproper
it outputs:
Code:
root:/sources/linux-2.6.22.5# make mrproper
/sources/linux-2.6.22.5/scripts/gcc-version.sh: line 11: /tools/bin/gcc: No such file or directory
/sources/linux-2.6.22.5/scripts/gcc-version.sh: line 12: /tools/bin/gcc: No such file or directory
According to a googled soulution it said my interpreter was wrongly linked to /lib/ld-linux.so.2 instead of /tools/lib.... so I executed

Code:
 ln -sv /tools/lib/ld-linux.so.2 /lib/ld-linux.so.2
Now everything works perfect and as expected but as compiler is a crucial software of an operating system and most of people started all over again after receiving this error (and failed again!). Moreover, Ubuntu users developing LFS complain that lfs isn't added in sudoers list for some reason which might've caused this issue. So, at this point I am confused do I continue or start all over again(probably over some other Linux distro) which might not guarantee me success.

No you should not be linking stuff from your host system to your tools folder this will contamanate the tools you must have missed a bit in the book as you are still at such an early stage I would wipe the tools folser and start from scratch and follow the book exactly

Quote:
ln -sv /tools/lib/ld-linux.so.2 /lib/ld-linux.so.2
This might have damaged your host system. See if '/lib/ld-linux.so.2' is a symlink.
