Ristretto doesn't open any kind of file

Hi to all!
I know that the Ristretto package is not described in BLFS but I haven't idea where ask my question if not here, so:
After installing XFCE on my LFS 7.2 system I've tried to install Ristretto picture-viewer by './configure --prefix=/usr', 'make' and then as root 'make install'; all went fine and now I can open Ristretto by the XFCE menu but, when I click to Open it doesn't show me images in the file selector: neither .jpeg nor .png !
I've already installed all the dependencies as described here and I've tried with the 0.6.3 and 0.3.0 versions of Ristretto.
What can I do?

When you say it doesn't show images in the file selector do you mean it doesn't show a preview or it doesn't show jpg/png filenames? If its the former then I have the same results and it is just the way the file selector is programmed in which case post a bug/request on the mailing list as spikey said.
The lack of previews should not stop you from opening a file.
One possible cause is that I don't have tumbler installed which is the basic xfce thumbnailer so it may be taht you have to install that as well.

Thanks for answering, but it's not surely a preview matter. I take a screenshot for better explaining me and it's here. It's in Italian so I've commented it. As you suggested I've posted this problem in the XFCE-bug mailing list

Thanks but I've found an alternative package: Mirage. It works well and I don't have the need of Ristretto in particular.

When I've installed shared-mime-info magically Ristretto began to work properly! But now there is an another problem: How do I uninstall Mirage? I've installed it with 'python setup.py install' as described in the README file shipped with the package, but, here, the uninstalling process isn't even mentioned. I've also typed 'python setup.py --help' and in the possible options there isn't nothing about uninstalling. What can I do?
