resolve dependencies in lfs

I like lfs very much. I have installed Mandrake, gentoo and lfs.
But there´s one thing i dont like. When i want to install an aplication in gentoo, i simply type emerge and gentoo resolves all dependencies. Mandrake behaves similarly with RPM, but with lfs i have to look for every dependency and install them one by one. I have read you can install rpm in lfs but some people do not recommend it. Any idea?

Not an answer to your question but I found that a lot of the dependancies for the packages I wanted to intstall were installed when I compiled xorg and kde. They were much less of a chore than I thought they would be.
