Receiving error when attempting to mount LFS filesystem on Fedora

I'm in section 2.4 of the LFS-Book and I'm attempting to use the command "mount -v -t ext4 /dev/sda3 $LFS" to which I receive the response "wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sda3, missing codepage or helper program, or other error In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so". I've attempted to run an "fsck -c" on sda3 and it said it ran successfully. I don't have much experience with LINUX, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I solved it by deciding not to use fedora. Instead I'm using slackware to start.

If you solve a problem on your own without a post holding the answer it is really good manners to just post the solution so that anyone else searching the forum for a similar problem can zero in on the SOLVED threads and get an answer to their problem without having to start a new thread.
