Unhappy Problem on pass 2 build of GCC (V6.2)

Hi,

I'm trying to re-build my server after a major problem.

I've downloaded the LiveCD (stable V6.2) and it's been going ok until I get to Pass 2 of the GCC build in Chapter 5.

When I perform the make, I get the following at the end of the process:-
Quote:
make[1]: Entering directory '/mnt/lfs/sources/gcc-build/gcc'
make[1]: *** No rule to make target 'all'. stop.
make[1]: Leaving directory '/mnt/lfs/sources/gcc-build/gcc'
make: *** [all-gcc] Error 2
Can ayone help?

Please?

Before my family kill me? (I have data backed up, but can't get to it until server is back up. So we have no networked internet (kids looking for blood) No e-mail or financial records (wife looking for....)

TIA

Paul

Update...

Hi,

I found a reference elsewhere to a screwed Makefile in the /gcc directory. They suggested monitoring it's size....

I started with a clean extract of gcc. sources/.../gcc/Makefile ok.
Next I did the two sed edits. sources/.../gcc/Makefile ok.
Next came the applying of the patch. sources/.../gcc/Makefile ok.
Creation of gcc-build.
Ran .configure ...... from gcc-build. sources/.../gcc/Makefile ok.
BUT
sources/gcc-build/gcc/Makefile is zero bytes!!!!!

Can anyone tell me how / why this is the case? More importantly, can anyone tell me how to get around the problem?

Pass 1 of the GCC build went smoothly, so I don't think it's corrupt source tarballs.

TIA

Paul
