Packages required for a minimum LFS

What are the minimum packages required to build a LFS, which can be used to connect a sensor to read some data and plot graphs based on it.

Hi there, and welcome.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is "LFS"? Possibly Linux From Scratch to build your own minimal Linux distro for just this one purpose?

Presumably you are referring to a hardware sensor of some sort. In that case, the software needed to drive it will very much depend on what sensor it is, what computer you are using, and how the two are connected.

One interesting possibility might be to use the GPIO port on a Raspberry Pi :-)

Clifford

I have already started with linux from scratch 7.2 using ubuntu 12.04 as host. I want to reduce the size by installing only the packages required to run my application.

@Sreelakshmi Subash: LFS is minimal as-is.

You might be able to reduce the size a bit by removing all the docs/man pages and strip the binaries, but that's not really worth the effort compared to the size reduction.

Here's an older LQ threads about this subject:

And one of the LFS hints;
