Own Installation-CD/DVD

I had my LFS ready so far everything is working well...
I build LFS for an Project for my school so i want to ask something:
Is is possible to make an Installation CD or DVD from my working LFS system with my installed packages? The only alternative that i thought was to make an script where every step make automatic like ALFS but include my packages...but the other version i think is better

Thanks for answers

Hi,
Trying to find this out myself. You need to do it in steps though, as noone gives you all the answers.

Check out the LFS hints though, there may be some good stuff there.

Especially:
Guide to creating your own live CD
Installing RPM (or other package managers)

Maybe try and apply this HOWTO for customising the Anaconda installer to your distro. Probably need some programming experience here or know someone who does. I don't so might take me a while.

I'm not quite sure what's involved, but the best bet (if you want others to adopt your distro) is to work on a binary install as it cuts the install time to less than an hour and is much easier for the IT-Phobic. For a basic system, maybe 5 mins.

your best bet is to ask a distro developer (Knopper has a magazine column) how they did it

Are you looking to have a package for each little thing like most linux distros do? If not, you can do something like the openbsd guys do and just package up the whole base system in 1 (package base.tgz). Then create individual packages for other programs. Then you can just use a livecd to unpack the files on a hard drive.

I want make as a package for each little thing like most linux distros do.
I found LFS. I think it's not what i want. Because compiling can take hours to install the Linux Distro. I guest there are another way to make a Distro. You can make a CD with binary packages and write a script to Install or copy it to your hdd.
Please help me. Thanks
