missing updatedb file

Hi,
Would someone who has LFS installed, please look in /var/lib/misc, and tell me if there is an <updatedb> file?
Thank you,
David

HI
well, no, its not there, here look:

[crow@lfs ~]$ locate updatedb
/usr/bin/updatedb
/usr/share/man/man1/updatedb.1

there it is, and its man companion.

missing updatedb file

Thank you very much. The installation of the findutils-4.1. package (In chapter 6.17.2), is unclear to me. I bought the LFS 4.1 book, and it is different from the online 4.1 book, in this area.
Before posting, I searched, and found that itsjustme mentioned the same problem in this forum.
I think my system (let's assume I ever finish) will not be FHS compliant.
I think I do not care.
Thanks again,
David

you are welcome,
i wouldnt mind either about FHS, as far as i know its based around their standarts but, not exactly.
anyway, i would recommend you to use the online book, mainly coz you will want to copy and paste a LOT.
if dont know how, its using GPM, so i would recommend you to compile it and install it asap. this makes posible to use the mouse on console (its named on the LFS book, search for it) then to copy and paste all you have to do is to select (holding left button) and when you right click it will paste at the cursor location all the previous selected...thing.

hope it helps a little.

Thank you very much for the cut and paste suggestion. It would never have occured to me.
I would have replied sooner, but was unable. I appreciate all the advice I can get.
