Linux set up


how can I convert DHCP to static IP address without using GUI, and what steps do I use to change my name?

Well if your using LFS, you'd have to edit all your config files that correspond to your networking, also editing your bootup scripts or from the command line with the ifconfig and route command.

If you clarify on if your using LFS or just Linux, it helps us determine the proper steps to get you setup as you don't specify your distro or if your wanting to do this on an LFS installation.

If your using a regular ol distro like Redhat or Slackware, etc, you can use netconfig at a command to configure.
