LFS6.3 livecd "ls : command not found" error after "su - lfs"

Hi,

a (LFS)linux monkey here. I'm using the LFS6.3 livecd to build LFS. In chapter4, after I ran "source ~/.bash_profile" and then did "su - lfs", I could not do "ls" or "mkdir", I was about to create the binutils-build directory.

everytime I run ls or mkdir, I get the "command not found" error.

I've tried reading some FAQs and other materials but no one seemed to have encountered this. I'm sure I did exactly what the book said.

Thanks

Famous last words ;) Most problems I've encountered with (C)LFS were the result of user error (i.e., not following the instructions).

is backwards from the instructions in the book so maybe you missed something else too. I'd recommend double and triple checking what you did in chapter 4. If you really did things in the order you claim, you didn't create a bash_profile for the lfs user.
