LFS iso

Hi there,

So I assume that this is a really noob question, but I'll ask anyway. So as I'm getting more and more into the development/programming side of Linux, I stumbled upon LFS, so I had a quick question.

Once you have a LFS system built and running, is it possible to create a disk image from which to install your build on other boxes?

I presume this is possible, but I just wanted to double check.

Thanks,

Will

You're probably thinking about a bootable installation disk like most of the Linux distros have to create and format partitions, select packages, configure the boot loader, etc., etc. People often ask about that here. I will defer to other readers to address that. Anyway, I simply clone my new BLFS systems to my other computers using tar (other methods are possible such as rsync, cpio, dd, etc.). I also use tar to make weekly backups of entire systems, and every now and then (like today) I have to restore from them. It's never failed me.

That's actually the information that I needed. I just wanted to double check that if I built LFS on my laptop, I could use it on all of my other systems as well. Thanks a bunch!
