LFS build custom ISO & install
 

I have recently started reading the LFS documentation. Please excuse me if this has already been asked, I was wondering if it is possible to build a distro & create an ISO of the whole system, and then when botting the newly burned CD/DVD to have an installation similar to Red Hat or Ubuntu with graphical install, customized disk partitioning, disk selection, etc.

I am trying to build a user friendly desktop distro, mostly just for fun, so would like something user friendly. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, or is this beyond the scope of LFS?

If so, would anyone be interested in helping me build a true customized distro that we could distribute freely to the public?

This is something that I've thought about for a while and the reason why I started in on LFS. My ultimate goal is to build a distribution that can be installed to a hard drive or run from a thumb drive. I know that distros like that already exist, but it would be a lot of fun and a great learning experience to build a new one from scratch.
It may be beyond the scope of LFS (and maybe even past BLFS), but probably not by that much.

http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Anaconda/BuildDocProject or https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Ubiquity or the Slackware Installer system will work for what you want.

Anaconda, Ubiquity, and the Slackware installer each will let you do this (with non-trivial effort, but then again LFS is a non-trivial endeavor in and of itself so it won't be a problem by the time you finish your LFS), with the addition of more compiled software on your LFS (which you can glean from the requirements of the three installers mentioned above).

I actually started a LFS build recently and the Slackware installer is what I plan on using.

Hey If you can keep me posted on your progress and throw out some scraps to pass around it would be appreciated :)

I'm interested in documenting a couple of approaches for this.

No news is good news perhaps?
