Lfs-->blfs
hi.i just finished the lfs ebook and built my system.
i want to start reading blfs.the last version is "Revision 2011-11-09 2011-11-09 Ongoing Release" and i studied lfs 7.0. is this right version for me to study? |

Hi (again :) ),
A word of advise: The BLFS isn't set up the same as the LFS book. The LFS book is straight-forward: You start at page one and work all the way to the end. BLFS doesn't work that way! You need to do chapters 1, 2 and 3 in the order they are presented. After that you decide what you want/need to install. Dependencies are mentioned when needed (you do need to install the required and Recommended dependencies). Also: Install GMP and Lynx after you've done the first three chapters, that way you have a mouse and a (text)browser, which makes your building life a lot easier. Happy building! |
