Hi (again :) ),

A word of advise: The BLFS isn't set up the same as the LFS book. The LFS book is straight-forward: You start at page one and work all the way to the end. BLFS doesn't work that way!

You need to do chapters 1, 2 and 3 in the order they are presented. After that you decide what you want/need to install. Dependencies are mentioned when needed (you do need to install the required and Recommended dependencies).

Also: Install GMP and Lynx after you've done the first three chapters, that way you have a mouse and a (text)browser, which makes your building life a lot easier.

Happy building!

From now on you should use LFS and not the host/chrooted environment method to build stuff.

Hope this helps.

Seriously?

- Use vi and start typing,
- Install GPM + Lynx and start copy/pasting,
- Use chrooted environment, start copy/pasting.

Code:

Use chrooted environment, start copy/pasting.

I asked the same Question drunna advised it was best to build from lfs system
