LFS as VMWare Server Host

Hi Folks,
i'm looking for a minimal linux distro to use as a VMWare Server host (a poor mans ESX as it were), has anyone used LFS for this purpose before? Has anyone made any progress on documenting the packages required (and not required!) to successfully run VMWare on a basic LFS install?

Any info would be appreciated.

I take it nobody here uses VMWare Server then? Or is LFS a poor choice for a host?
