LFS 5.0 stuck @ gettext-0.12.1 - missing aclocal-1.7

I'm on the 18th package, gettext-0.12.1, and it fails to compile. i run ./configure --prefix=/tools without a problem and then, when i type make i get the following:

WARNING: `aclocal-1.7' is needed, and you do not seem to have it handy on your
system. You might have modified some files without having the
proper tools for further handling them. Check the `README' file,
it often tells you about the needed prerequirements for installing
this package. You may also peek at any GNU archive site, in case
some other package would contain this missing `aclocal-1.7' program.
make[1]: *** [aclocal.m4] Error 1

#################################

so, there is a lot i could say, but i guess i'm looking for the reason aclocal-1.7 wasn't found and/or which previous package was responsible for creating it.

i have installed (in this order):

binutils-2.14 pass1
gcc-3.3.1 pass1
glibc-2.3.2
tcl-8.4.4
expect-5.39.0
dejagnu-1.4.3
gcc-3.3.1 pass 2
binutils-2.14 pass2
gawk-3.1.3
coreutils-5.0
bzip2-1.0.2
gzip-1.3.5
diffutils-2.8.1
findutils-4.1.20
make-3.80
grep-2.51
sed-4.0.7

all of these installed with no errors that i'm aware of. my system is pretty standard really, p4 2.53Ghz, intel mobo, etc. i'm building LFS in an 8gig ext3 partition from RH9 running Ximian Desktop, gnome 2.4...

anything anyone wants/needs to know, just ask. i'd really appreciate anyone's help. thanks in advance. if i find the answer i will post it for the next in line

aclocal is provided by Automake. Since LFS doesn't specify to install Automake in chapter 5 (where you seem to be) I am guessing this means you don't even have it installed on your host system. You may want to check this.
