Question is it an error or typo?

In chapter 5 of the lfsbook 3.3, quoted:

cat > ~/.bash_profile << "EOF"
umask 022

export LFS LC_ALL
source ~/.bash_profile

should it be LFS="/mnt/lfs" ?

the quotes are not necessarily needed.
