i think the latest version is 4.8 of xfce. What prefix do you mean? I presume it's the usr. Part if you have built the rest of system with usr as the prefix then use that again

I don't see /usr/lib/pkgconfig. Although I do think that that is the default path, it cannot hurt to add it to your /etc/profile.d/extrapaths.sh file. Add this section:
Code:
if [ -d /usr/lib/pkgconfig ] ; then
        pathprepend /usr/lib/pkgconfig PKG_CONFIG_PATH
fi
The above should add /usr/lib/pkgconfig as first entry (prepend).

druuna when I read the XFCE build I'm confusing about ${PREFIX}, is that same as chapter 23 yesterday /usr or this time different. It say I can use /usr, /usr/local and /opt/xfce4 so I can change it into ${PREFIX}=/usr?
Xfce and BLFS aren't related in any way, so don't get confused about variables that have the same name.

Xfce gives you the possibility to install in different locations, this is done by setting the appropriate PREFIX. I would use /usr

Then which version of XFCE is the best (according to my LFS 6.6)
Use the latest stable Xfce version, which is 4.8 at this moment.

Hope this helps.

Xfce 4.8 requires Gtk+ 2.14 and Glib 2.20
How to compile Gtk+ 2.14? Is that same as the blfs book, just change the package?this GTK+-1.2.10

You need to install gtk+-2.20.1. Both gtk 1.2.10 and gtk 2.20.1 are in the BLFS book.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

dbus-launch is part of D-BUS-1.2.24

Are yo sure you correctly installed D-BUS 1.2.24 and D-Bus GLib Bindings?

Perhaps you haven't installed or don't have the command `which' in your ${PATH} and that is why it can't find dbus-launch
