grub question...?

in chapter 8.4 Im reading about setting up grub. Now I built my entire system on one partition which is hda1 with a swap partition on

I need to tell grub to boot from hd0,0 this....

root (hd0,0)

Is that right???

that's right . You might want to read this part of Gentoo's handbook to understand how grub works.
