Generally if you solve the problem it is preferred that you post the solution rather than delete your original post. That way others can find the solution in the future.

alguien me puede ayudar con este problema

Hm, maybe it would be worth trying to read the output of ./configure before posting it. It said that autoconf is either missing or incompatible.

croog 06-18-2008 04:54 PM

autoconf not detected install glibc-2.5.1

I'm using LFS 6.3 on chapter 6.9 glibc-2.5.1
When I run configure for glibc-2.5.1:
Quote:

root:/sources/glibc-build# ../glibc-2.5.1/configure --prefix=/usr \
--disable-profile --enable-add-ons \
--enable-kernel=2.6.0 --libexecdir=/usr/lib/glibc
I get this error:
Quote:

checking for autoconf... no
configure: WARNING:
*** These auxiliary programs are missing or incompatible versions: autoconf
*** some features will be disabled.
*** Check the INSTALL file for required versions.
According to 'install' in glib-2.5.1:
Quote:

If you change any of the `configure.in' files you will also need

* GNU `autoconf' 2.53 or higher
I have autoconf-2.61 installed on the host system. I have links to autoconf in '/usr/bin' and '/usr/local/bin'. I installed autoconf with these commands:
./configure --prefix=/usr/local
make
make check
make install

There were no errors on the install of autoconf. My ony idea is that glibc is not looking for autoconf where I have it installed. Any help would be great.

The problem is not with autoconf, the configure script completed successfully. The problem can be found in the output of the make command
Code:

mawk: scripts/gen-sorted.awk: line 19: regular expression compile failed (bad class -- [], [^] or [)
/[^
mawk: scripts/gen-sorted.awk: line 19: syntax error at or near ]
mawk: scripts/gen-sorted.awk: line 19: runaway regular expression /, "", subd ...

I'm guessing your using Debian or a Debian derivative as the host system. Install gawk and try again.

BTW, next time post the version of the book you're using and read/verify the host system requirements.

I have exactly the same problem with the command make in Installation of Glibc (chapter 5.6.1) and i'm using Debian like host system. (book LFS 6.3). What gwak has to do if in section 5.6.1 gwak is not installed ? Someone knows how to solve the problem up ?

I also had that error. I circumvented it by configuring with CC="/usr/bin/cc"

You have to have gawk installed on the host system to complete section 5. You also need to read the host system requirements in section iv.

Unfortunately you used your host system's gcc, not the temporary system's gcc that was installed in section 5.4. This could potentially cause you problems since you should be building glibc with the gcc in /tools/bin.

If you choose to deviate from the book without understanding what you're doing you're likely to have a bad experience with (C)LFS.

Thanks for the help weibullguy.:) I already installed Gawk but I pulled a noob and installed it to my /home partition. :newbie:
I just downloaded the LFS live cd and I'm going restart my build using it as the host.
