I seem to be having a right nightmare with LFS at the moment. I decided to go back to the beginning and start again. This time I've only got as far a gcc-3.3.1 pass 1 in chaptet 5, which is pretty pathetic
. After I've done the configuration, which seems to go OK, I do the first make as shown below, and it responds with this error:-
$ make BOOT_LDFLAGS="-static" bootstrap
Bootstrapping the compiler
make: Entering directory `/lfs/sources/gcc-build/gcc'
make: *** No rule to make target `../../gcc-3.3.1/gcc/version.c', needed by `config.status'. Stop.
make: Leaving directory `/lfs/sources/gcc-build/gcc'
make: *** [bootstrap] Error 2
Is the version.c file supposed to generated by the configure script? Because it certainly isn't there, and isn't in the gcc-core tarball. I'm sure this is something really simple I've missed out, but I've really losing faith at the moment.
