gcc compile error in chapter 6.12

when I try to build gcc in chapter 6.12 (lfs 6.2) I get this error:

Code:
.......
 -W -Wall -Wwrite-strings -Wstrict-prototypes -Wmissing-prototypes -Wold-style-definition  -isystem ./include  -I. -I. -I../../gcc-4.0.3/gcc -I../../gcc-4.0.3/gcc/. -I../../gcc-4.0.3/gcc/../include -I../../gcc-4.0.3/gcc/../libcpp/include   -g0 -finhibit-size-directive -fno-inline-functions -fno-exceptions -fno-zero-initialized-in-bss -fno-unit-at-a-time -fno-omit-frame-pointer \
   -c ../../gcc-4.0.3/gcc/crtstuff.c -DCRT_BEGIN \
  -o crtbegin.o
as: unrecognized option `-Qy'
make[1]: *** [crtbegin.o] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/sources/gcc-build/gcc'
make: *** [all-gcc] Error 2
anyone knows what this is?

the problem was with binutils. I recompiled it and came a little further.

now I get this error:

Code:
checking for library containing gettext... configure: error: Link tests are not allowed after GCC_NO_EXECUTABLES.
make: *** [configure-target-libstdc++-v3] Error 1
any hints?

can you please elaborate

I am also stuck at the same location ... namely the second one stated by you... it would be very helpful if you could elaborate as to how you solved it.
